Warhawks Sweep Pointers and Falcons
two for tuesday
The UW-Whitewater women’s tennis team continued their assault on competition on Tuesday by sweeping both UW-Stevens Point and Concordia (Wis.) 9-0. The Warhawks overall dual meet record is now 8-1 while they improve to 3-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-SP, a WIAC member, falls to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in the WIAC while Concordia drops to 9-6.  The Warhawks have now swept six of their nine dual matches this season.

UW-Whitewater took a 3-0 lead over UW-Stevens Point after all three doubles tandems won by a margin of four games or more. Singles play followed and Whitewater’s two through six singles players won in straight sets. The ‘Hawks number one singles player, Kalla Schaefer, won her first set 6-2, dropped the second 4-6, and won the tiebreak 14-12 to complete the sweep.

The Warhawks remain undefeated in the WIAC at all six singles positions and number one and number two doubles. At the number three doubles spot they are 2-1.

Against Concordia, the result was the same. A 3-0 sweep by all three doubles teams started things off for the Warhawks. Straight sets victories by all six singles players finished up the match and the sweep.
